Conformity assessment in Australia is primarily based on European (EU) standards. The Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) in Canberra is the competent authority that manages the process of issuing certificates. IB-Lenhardt AG is in direct contact with the supplier, which drastically shortens the time it takes to receive a certificate for the Australian market and New Zealand. We support our customers professionally in the administration and collection of documents that have to be subjected to the conformity assessment procedure. We also assist with the necessary RCM labeling (Regulatory Compliance Mark) and possible in-country tests, which depend on the technology of the device. After successful examination of all documents, a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) is issued for most technologies, which is valid for 5 years. Make sure that your device complies with local requirements and standards. Rely on our expertise and several years of practical experience in the field of global market access.

Before March 1, 2013, Australian EMI was controlled by ACMA and issued the C-tick mark, and safety regulations were controlled by each state government. Since March 1, 2013, Australia’s ERAC (Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council) has integrated the previous C-tick, A-tick, and RCM marks into a single mark, RCM. From now on, all regulated electronic products imported into Australia and New Zealand must be affixed with the RCM mark before they can be sold on the market.
The biggest difference of the new RCM is that it requires the actual importer to register, and the agent information cannot be provided by the third party.
Voltage: Australia 240Vac New Zealand 230Vac
Frequency: 50Hz
Plug: New Zealand and Australia specifications: AN/NZS 3112
Mandatory: defined according to the SAA mandatory list
Certificate validity: 5 years, the validity period of the product registration, mainly the validity period of its safety certificate
Local agent: yes
Factory inspection: No
In the new RCM, ERAC manages the actual importer and the regulated products. Currently, as long as the voltage range is AC: 50V~1000V, DC: 120V~1500V, they are all in scope products. The actual importer data must be registered in the ERAC database for users to query on the public website.

AS (Safety; Certificate validity: 5 years )
– by CB with AS difference (IEC 62368-1: 2018 with AS/NZS 62368.1:2020)
And the CB unit needs to upload the issued CB to the IEC database
– For wall-mounted power supplies, an Australian plug report (AS/NZS 3112:2017+A1:2021) is required
– The model number applied for must be a specific model; wildcards are not accepted (except OFT); the certificate does not show the factory, but the issuing unit system controls
– Issuing units: OFT, CCS, SAA, UL (units that your company often applies for)
– L/T: 2-3 weeks
– Label Marking: The certificate number must be placed for mandatory certification
RCM (EMC)
– by AS and CE Report (EN 55032: 2015+A11:2020, AS/NZS CISPR 32: 2015 +AMD1:2020)
– L/T: 3 days
– Label Marking:

Electrical Equipment Safety System
(Safety and EMC)
– The actual importer must register as an EESS Responsible Supplier
– External power supplies (level 3 products) must register with EESS products (dell, hp)
– L/T: 3 days

Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards
(Energy Efficiency; Certificate validity: 5 years
)
– By MEPS report (DOE file) and label
– The model number to be applied for must be a specific model; wildcards are not accepted; factories are not controlled
– L/T: 2-3 weeks
– Label Marking: Roman numerals of energy-saving level: (now all level 6)
– Power supplies with multiple outputs and output wattage greater than 250W are not controlled
