Products that use radio frequency bands or are connected to the public network and are to be distributed in the Indian market must obtain an ETA license (Equipment Type Approval) issued by Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC). The WPC is part of the Government of India and the Ministry of Communications – Department of Telecommunications and approval of BIS (BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS). The WPC compliance testing is subject to the requirements of the ETSI Type Approval (EU) and/or FCC test reports. In addition, the approval certificate, either the EU Type Approval Certificate or the FCC Approval Certificate, must be part of the technical documentation submitted for the WPC. Furthermore, an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) must obtain a WPC Certificate of Compliance. The WPC certificate is valid indefinitely after the completion of the process.
